NTTU – On the morning of November 4th, at the High-Tech Development Center, Nguyen Tat Thanh University hosted the Semi-Final Round of the Euréka Student Scientific Research Award 2025 in the Social Sciences field.
Attending the opening session were Mr. Doan Kinh Thanh – Director of the Center for the Development of Young Scientists and Technologists, Head of the Organizing Committee of the Euréka Award; Ms. Ho Thi Mong Thu, M.Sc., Lawyer – Standing Deputy Director of the Tam Nguyen Viet Charitable Social Fund; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Tinh – Former Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, Chairman of the Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Khac Cuong – Vice Rector of Hong Bang International University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang – Vice Rector of Van Hien University; Dr. Do Huu Nguyen Loc – Vice Rector of the University of Economics and Finance Ho Chi Minh City; Dr. Hoang Thi Thu Huyen – Deputy Director of the Institute of Social Sciences of the Southern Region, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Dr. Tran Thi Huyen Thanh – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Council of Dong Hung Thuan Ward (Ho Chi Minh City).
Representing Nguyen Tat Thanh University were: Dr. Tran Ai Cam – Rector of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bach Long Giang – Head of the Science and Technology Department.
In addition, the Semi-Final Round of the 2025 Euréka Student Scientific Research Award in the Social Sciences field also welcomed the participation of numerous teachers and lecturers from universities, as well as contestants with projects participating in the Semi-Final Round of the competition.
The Euréka Student Scientific Research Award is a prestigious award for students passionate about scientific research, organized annually by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Union in collaboration with the Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, with support from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, the Tam Nguyen Viet Charitable Foundation, and the Center for the Development of Young Scientists and Technologists (the permanent body of the Organizing Committee). This is an academic platform that provides students nationwide with opportunities to learn, create, and conduct scientific research, fostering innovative ideas among students.
In 2025, the award attracted 2,178 entries from 161 universities nationwide competing in 15 fields, including: Agricultural Sciences; Food Technology; Information Technology; Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences; Physics; Economics; Planning, Architecture and Construction; Biology; Engineering Technology; Culture and Arts; Resources and Environment; Administration and Law; Educational Sciences; Chemistry; and Social Sciences.
In her welcoming remarks, Dr. Tran Ai Cam, Rector of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, stated that the Eureka Award for students has affirmed the value, quality, influence, and reach of the competition throughout society. For Nguyen Tat Thanh University, the award plays a crucial role in promoting and developing the student scientific research movement. From only 5 entries in 2015, the number of student entries has now reached 115 across 13 fields of the competition.

In 2025, NTTU will have 115 projects participating in 13 fields of the award.
“The university is honored to host the semi-final round of the 27th Euréka Student Scientific Research Award 2025 in the field of Social Sciences. This is a very meaningful competition for all students and lecturers of Nguyen Tat Thanh University to participate in, spreading the passion for scientific research and providing an opportunity for the university to network with other universities in the city and across the country,” Dr. Cam emphasized.
In 2025, the Social Sciences field received significant interest and participation from a large number of students. According to the organizing committee, this field saw the participation of 297 projects with nearly 862 contestants from 74 universities and colleges nationwide. Notably, there was also participation from international students studying at universities, colleges, and academies in Vietnam.
The Euréka Student Scientific Research Award also established a Scientific Council of 76 members who will review and evaluate the projects, selecting the best ones to participate in the Final Round. The Scientific Council is divided into two subcommittees: Subcommittee 1 is chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Tinh – former Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City, and is chaired by the Council; and Subcommittee 2 is chaired by Dr. Tran Ai Cam – Rector of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, and Vice Chairman of the Council.

The Euréka Student Scientific Research Award also established a Scientific Council of 76 members who will review and evaluate the projects, thereby selecting outstanding projects to participate in the final round.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Doan Kinh Thanh – Director of the Center for the Development of Young Scientists and Technologists, and Head of the Euréka Award Organizing Committee – stated that the award has strongly spread the spirit and movement of scientific research among students nationwide, becoming a driving force for academic activities at universities, colleges, and academies. This year, the award continues to receive a positive response from a large number of students, especially in the field of Social Sciences, with the highest number of participating projects ever.

2025 will be the year with the highest number of research projects in the Social Sciences field.
Comrade Doan Kinh Thanh added that at the end of the semi-final round, 97% of the projects were eliminated, and 3% of the outstanding projects advanced to the final round, demonstrating the serious investment and quality of the students’ research. More than just a competition, this is also a valuable experiential journey, helping students cultivate scientific thinking, research skills, and a passion for discovering knowledge.

Having participated in the award since 2015, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has had projects winning prizes at the Euréka Student Scientific Research Award for eight consecutive years. Notably, in 2023, the University won first prize in the Engineering field for the first time with the project “Research, Design, and Fabrication of a 4-Parameter Monitor” by student Truong Thi Thuy Trang, under the guidance of MSc. Nguyen Sy Suu. In addition, Nguyen Tat Thanh University students also won numerous other awards in the competition, including second, third, and honorable mention prizes, poster awards, and student story awards.
In line with Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s development strategy for the period 2020-2025, with a vision to 2035 aiming for a smart university model and a focus on innovation and entrepreneurship, the university has always recognized the importance of and invested in scientific research activities, paying particular attention to student research. The university is acutely aware of its educational mission: continuously improving the quality of training, bridging the gap between theoretical education and practical requirements, and facilitating the transfer and application of new science and technology into daily life. These efforts and activities by the faculty and students of Nguyen Tat Thanh University have yielded many impressive and commendable results.
