“AI WILL REPLACE HR” – A MISCONCEPTION THAT CAUSES MANY YOUNG PEOPLE TO MISS OUT ON A STRATEGIC FIELD

In recent years, social media has been flooded with messages: study technology, study data, study AI to avoid being left behind. Meanwhile, human-related fields like Human Resource Management are often labeled as “administrative,” “easily replaceable,” and “not creating value.”

This is a common – and dangerous – misconception.

Technology can replace jobs, but it cannot replace human resource management.

AI can automate pre-recruitment, payroll calculation, and HR data analysis. But AI cannot:

  • Deciding who fits the organizational culture
  • Designing policies to motivate employees.
  • Resolving conflicts between people
  • Building trust, commitment, and engagement within the organization.

As technology advances and organizations become more complex, the role of human resource management becomes increasingly strategic. AI is a tool, but people remain at the heart of any organizational system.

Gen Z is chasing “hot” industries, but businesses lack people who understand the organization.

The prevailing mindset today is to choose fields based on trends: technology, digital marketing, finance, startups. However, in reality, one of the biggest shortages in businesses is people who understand how to manage and operate a human resources system.

Businesses can hire coders and marketing agencies, but it’s difficult to find people with a systems thinking approach to people, culture, and organization. This is why many fast-growing businesses collapse due to staffing crises, internal conflicts, and toxic cultures.

Human resource management is not a “soft skill,” but rather soft power.

Many people think of HR as a support department. In reality, HR is where the rules of the game are set within the organization: who gets hired, who gets rewarded, who gets trained, and who gets promoted. This is a huge, but often invisible, managerial power.
