NTTU – a prestigious Spanish scientific research institution ranking organization – has published its 2026 ranking of research institutes and universities worldwide (SCImago Institutions Rankings). In Vietnam, there has been an increase in the number of higher education institutions included in this ranking.
In 2026, 61 higher education institutions in Vietnam were ranked by SCImago, an increase of 15 institutions compared to the previous year. Despite the significant increase in the number of ranked higher education institutions, Nguyen Tat Thanh University impressively made it into the TOP 5 leading universities.

Nguyen Tat Thanh University has excellently made it into the TOP 5 leading universities in Vietnam.
According to SIR, Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s Research Index is ranked 61st, its Innovation Index 31st, and its Social Index 52nd. In addition, SIR also ranked 19 training fields across three groups: World, Asia, and Vietnam.

SCImago continues to rank universities and research institutions worldwide based on three criteria: Research (50%), Innovation (30%), and Societal (20%). In 2026, the Altmetrics index (part of the Societal index) was replaced by a new Media Mentions index to quantify the level of exposure of institutions to highly reputable media outlets ranked in the SCImago Media Rankings (SMR).
Previously, Nguyen Tat Thanh University has been included in many prestigious international rankings such as: THE WUR, THE Impact Rankings, QS Asia University Rankings, Webometrics.org, URAP, etc. The university understands that innovation for development, meeting the demands of society and public education, is extremely urgent. Through ranking and accreditation activities according to domestic and international quality standards, Nguyen Tat Thanh University will develop comprehensively not only in training human resources to meet societal demands but also focus on scientific research, technology transfer, and community service, aiming to spread the values of entrepreneurship and innovation. At the same time, it will integrate deeply and quickly access the rapidly developing trends of universities worldwide.
In its development strategy for the period 2020-2025 and vision to 2035, Nguyen Tat Thanh University prioritizes innovation, internationalization, and quality as core foundations for sustainable development. The University has focused on implementing many of the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals, such as: Health and well-being; Quality education; Gender equality; Partnerships for sustainable goals; etc. Through ranking and accreditation according to domestic and international quality standards, Nguyen Tat Thanh University will develop comprehensively, not only in training human resources to meet societal demands but also in focusing on scientific research, technology transfer, and community service, aiming to spread the values of entrepreneurship and innovation. Simultaneously, it will integrate deeply and quickly adapt to the rapidly developing trends of universities worldwide.
