Voices from the lecture hall: Representatives of the graduating class speak about responsibility and choices.

At the graduation ceremony for nearly 2,600 students, many representatives of the graduating class gave speeches. Among them, the speech by Le Thi Hong Gam – a student from the 21st cohort of the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Technology – was quoted as a representative voice reflecting the thoughts of the generation of students who have just left the lecture halls.

To begin, Hong Gam explained the meaning of the English word  “Commencement  ” – not an end, but a beginning. Gam said: “Today marks both the end of years of hard work in the lecture halls and the beginning of a new chapter in our lives – a chapter where there are no pre-set outlines, no absolute correct answers, and each person must take responsibility for their own choices.”

New graduate Le Thi Hong Gam, representing the graduating students, delivered a speech, sharing her thoughts on responsibility, character, and the journey ahead.

According to Hong Gam, upon leaving the lecture hall, knowledge is no longer measured by grades but by how learners apply it in complex life situations. “The value of learning lies not in what has been memorized, but in the ability to think independently, the capacity for self-reflection, and the fortitude to maintain standards in situations where no one is supervising.”

Hong Gam also emphasized the role of teachers in shaping students’ thinking and character: “We have been given not only knowledge, but also the ability to think independently, the courage to make the right choices, and the awareness to live up to what we have learned.”

In conclusion, Hong Gam conveyed a message about the responsibility of young people entering life: “Today’s graduation certificate is not a passport to privilege, but a constant reminder of responsibility. Every career decision we make reflects not only our abilities but also our character and the values we choose to uphold.”
