NTTU \u2013 On October 31, 2025, Nguyen Tat Thanh University organized the International Conference on Sustainable Science and Technology ICSST 2025\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0\u201cGreen Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation,\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>bringing together hundreds of scientists, experts, and delegates from numerous universities, research institutes, and businesses from Vietnam and abroad to participate and share research results.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

In the context of increasingly complex and widespread climate change, Vietnam is considered one of the countries most severely affected, with manifestations such as rising average temperatures, rising sea levels, extreme weather events like saltwater intrusion, droughts, floods, and environmental pollution posing enormous challenges to the country’s socio-economic development and water security. This reality demands comprehensive adaptation solutions ranging from policies and technology to education and changes in community behavior, in which science and higher education play a key role.<\/p>\n

The workshop attracted more than 200 delegates and scientists from both within and outside the country.<\/em><\/p>\n

For many years, Nguyen Tat Thanh University’s development orientation has always been to strive to connect with the international scientific community to act together for a green future, environmental restoration, and sustainable development.\u00a0 This\u00a0ICSST 2025<\/strong>\u00a0conference \u00a0, hosted by Nguyen Tat Thanh University, also aims to create an environment for sharing research results and scientific and technological solutions in responding to climate change, contributing to promoting sustainable development and spreading a sense of responsibility for environmental protection within the academic community. The International Conference\u00a0\u00a0on Sustainable Science and Technology 2025: Green solutions for climate change adaptation (ICSST 2025<\/strong>\u00a0) brings together more than 200 delegates and scientists from Vietnam and abroad, including many leading experts from France, South Korea, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Representing Nguyen Tat Thanh University at the program were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hong \u2013 Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bach Long Giang \u2013 Head of the Science and Technology Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Phuc \u2013 Director of the Interdisciplinary Science Institute, Head of the Faculty of Applied Science & Technology; and numerous lecturers and researchers from across the University\u2026<\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hong \u2013 Vice Rector of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, said that this event was designed specifically for delegates from Asian countries. From the preparation stage, the University received many contributions from international experts and colleagues. \u201c\u00a0We expect the program to be\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0a forum for exchanging and sharing experiences and useful, practical solutions on environmental pollution and topics related to green solutions for climate change adaptation; technological and management solutions for sustainable agriculture and food; technological and management solutions for environmental resources and sustainable development; education on awareness and policy, promoting individual action, forming a proactive sense of environmental protection, and working together to mitigate the impacts of climate change<\/em>\u00a0\u2026\u201d, Assoc. ICSST 2025<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0took place over one plenary session and seven sub-sessions with more than 80 presentations and posters. The reports and discussions focused on topics such as climate change; technological and management solutions in sustainable food\/agriculture, environmental resources and sustainable development; water and wastewater treatment technologies\u2026 presented by five main speakers: Prof. Philippe Behra \u2013 National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse, France; Prof. Chettiyappan Visvanathan \u2013 Mahidol University, Thailand; Dr. Donamel M. Saiyari \u2013 Philippine Institute of Industrial Technology; Dr. Jieun Son \u2013 Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phung Chi Sy \u2013 Vietnam Association for Nature Conservation and Environment, Nguyen Tat Thanh University.<\/p>\n

In the vibrant academic atmosphere of the plenary session, speakers shared many important papers, focusing on practical and highly applicable topics. Particularly noteworthy were the\u00a0\u00a0global challenges in protecting water quality<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0from the increasing impacts of industrial, agricultural, and urban activities; the role of\u00a0\u00a0“<\/em>\u00a0environmental chemistry\u00a0“<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0in monitoring the chemical processes affecting natural water systems; tools for identifying pollutants and assessing resource fluctuations;\u00a0\u00a0advanced technical solutions and management models for building<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0climate-resilient urban wastewater treatment systems; the trend of water-sensitive urban design (WSUD); membrane technology and small-scale distributed treatment systems suitable for developing cities; and integrating green technologies with urban planning to reduce environmental pressure and promote sustainable urban development.\u00a0\u00a0Technical and biological approaches in controlling toxic<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0cyanobacteria, water resource management methods, mitigating biological contamination risks, and enhancing adaptation to climate change;\u00a0\u00a0application of radiation technology (gamma rays, electrons, and cold plasma) to promote the development of a green circular economy<\/em>\u00a0, reduce emissions, and protect natural resources;\u00a0\u00a0cleaner and more efficient production models to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,<\/em>\u00a0\u00a0making practical contributions to the national policy-making process on sustainable industrial development, in line with Vietnam’s net zero emission target by 2050.<\/p>\n

These reports not only update the latest research findings but also open up avenues for collaboration between Vietnamese and international scientists in applying advanced technologies to practice, contributing to promoting a green economy, protecting the environment, and sustainable development in the context of climate change.<\/p>\n

Organizing this conference also affirms the pioneering role of Nguyen Tat Thanh University in the network of Vietnamese higher education institutions in research, innovation, and action for green and sustainable development, not only focusing on training high-quality human resources but also actively participating in solving global environmental problems through international cooperation projects and interdisciplinary research programs.<\/p>\n

Within the framework of the conference, which included discussion sessions, the program also featured exhibitions and presentations of typical science and technology products from lecturers and students of Nguyen Tat Thanh University; businesses and many research units partnering with the University.<\/p>\n
